Miles For Midwives is an annual event that brings together those who support quality healthcare for women, pregnant people, and families in our community! This annual fundraiser benefits Oregon Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the Oregon Midwifery Council and aims to bring out all ages, genders, and fitness levels for an event of fun and community building. ACNM's and OMC's work helps midwives make a difference in Oregon healthcare through scholarships, educational projects, and legislative action that strengthens midwifery and supports access to healthcare for Oregon birthers and their families.
Every year, 10% of the proceeds from Miles for Midwives is directly donated to a deserving organization that supports women, pregnant people, families, and the professionals who care for them. This year we are donating to the Anahuac farm, a pillar within Capaces Leadership Institute, located in Turner Oregon in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Rooted in Indigenous knowledge and community care, Anahuac exists to support migrant and farmworking Indigenous peoples of the Americas through educational programming, traditional agriculture, and living pharmacy practices rooted in ancestral culture. Through sustainable agriculture, food and remedy distribution, ancestral health practices, and youth education, Anahuac acts as a bridge between ancestral and contemporary ways of living and learning. You can learn more about this organization via their website CapacesLeadership.org/anahuac/ or via their Facebook / Instagram pages.
Our community partners are essential to supporting women's health in Oregon and continue to stand with us in celebration of midwives and bringing quality care to all women, birthing people, and families!
